Peng Liyuan and Aigul Japarova, Wife of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Visit the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic

On the morning of August 31, 2026, local time, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, and Aigul Japarova, wife of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, visited the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek.

Peng Liyuan and Aigul Japarova watched a warm and friendly welcome performance. They then toured an exhibition on traditional Kyrgyz culture. Peng Liyuan remarked that the exquisite craftsmanship and rich colors of the costumes, carpets, and other artifacts on display showcase the Kyrgyz people’s long-standing handicraft traditions and unique customs. Noting that both China and Kyrgyzstan place great emphasis on the preservation and inheritance of traditional culture, Peng expressed the hope that the two countries will continue to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and enhance mutual understanding between their peoples.

The wives of the two heads of state also visited the “Harmony Brings Beauty: Ancient Chinese Civilization Art Exhibition,” jointly organized by China and Kyrgyzstan, and watched a display of traditional Kyrgyz costumes. Both expressed their commitment to actively promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Kyrgyzstan.

The National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic is the highest-level national museum in Kyrgyzstan, housing a collection that chronicles the historical development of the Kyrgyz people.
